Recon Land Rover Defender Price in Malaysia (2027 Guide)

By Matthew, Angsa Emas · Updated October 2026

A recon Land Rover Defender in our KL stock costs RM288,000 to RM358,000 across 17 cars. It is a distinctive SUV and a heavier ownership commitment than a Toyota. See our best recon cars in Malaysia list for how it compares with the rest of the stock.

I am Matthew from Angsa Emas. I will be direct: the Defender is a car you buy with your heart, so I make you check it with your head. Below are the numbers, how it compares with a Land Cruiser, and the questions to answer first.

How much is a recon Land Rover Defender in Malaysia in 2027?

Our Defender range is RM288,000 to RM358,000. That is a stock sheet range, not a fixed quote. Year, variant, grade and mileage decide the final price. I do not quote other sellers' Defender prices here, because I do not have a reliable recent source for them.

With 17 cars in stock you can compare several. Ask for the auction sheet of each one and compare the grade first, then the price.

Is the Defender better than a Land Cruiser?

It depends on what you want. The Defender is the more distinctive car and the Land Cruiser is the one many buyers pick for long-term ownership. In our stock the Land Cruiser 250 is RM273,000 to RM293,000 and the Defender is RM288,000 to RM358,000. Drive both, and weigh the badge against the running costs.

What are the servicing and repair costs of a Defender?

European luxury SUVs can cost more to service and repair than Japanese ones. I will not give a figure, because it depends on the workshop, the part and the year. Before you buy, get a servicing quote from the workshop you plan to use, and ask what parts cost and how long they take.

This is the question I would ask first on a Defender, ahead of the colour or the wheels.

Is a recon Defender cheaper than a new one?

I have no verified new Defender price in my notes, so I will not quote one. Ask the official dealer for the current new price and the delivery time, then compare it with the exact recon car. Compare the same variant, year and options, or the comparison is not fair.

The recon vs new car guide shows what you gain and give up on a recon, including a local new-car warranty and service history.

What grade should I choose on a recon Defender?

Choose body grade 4.5 or 5 and interior A or B where you can. Avoid R and RA unless you have a clear explanation and an inspection. A Defender is often used off the tarmac, so check the underbody for damage and rust, and ask about repair history.

The grade and auction sheet checklist lists every grade and a numbered inspection list.

How do I finance a recon Defender?

Use a bank loan and ask for the effective interest rate. Since 1 June 2026 the Hire-Purchase (Amendment) Act 2026 sets reducing-balance interest as the standard for new agreements. Maybank Islamic lists unregistered recon financing at up to 90% of the invoice and up to 108 months. Terms may change.

At this price, a small rate difference costs real money over the loan. See our loan guide.

What is the main risk of a recon Defender?

The main risk is cost after you buy. Servicing, parts and electronics on a European SUV can be higher than on a Toyota, and an imported car has no local service history. Inspect the car, ask for a third-party check, and get warranty terms in writing.

FAQ

How much is a recon Land Rover Defender in Malaysia?

Our Defender is RM288,000 to RM358,000. This is a stock sheet range, not a fixed quote. The final price depends on year, variant, grade and mileage.

Is a recon Defender reliable?

It depends on the car and on how it was maintained. I cannot give a blanket answer. Check the auction sheet, get an inspection and ask what servicing costs.

Defender or Land Cruiser, which should I buy?

Pick the Defender for looks and presence. Pick the Land Cruiser if long-term ownership and lower running risk matter more. Drive both.

What grade should a recon Defender be?

Aim for body grade 4.5 or 5 and interior A or B. R or RA means repaired after an accident, so ask for details and an inspection.

Can I get a loan for a recon Defender?

Yes. Banks often treat recon cars like new car loans. Maybank Islamic lists up to 90% of the invoice and up to 108 months for unregistered recon cars. Terms may change.

Does a recon Defender have a warranty?

It depends on the seller. Ask for the warranty in writing, with what it covers, for how long and who repairs it.
